So nu-disco muscian Lindstrøm, iconic rock producer and musician Todd Rundgren, and Emil Nikolaisen of Swedish neo-shoegazers Serena-Maneesh walk into a recording studio. No, this is not the start of some lame joke, but the beginnings of Runddans, the trio’s new collaborative album.

The unlikely group met up in an Oslo studio with no set plans, but what came out of the session showed promise. They reconvened in Rundgren’s Hawaiian studio to put the finishing touches on over 40 minutes in which “individual musical personalities [melt] into each other in a truly fascinating way.” The resulting record, Runddans, will see a summer release from Smalltown Supersound, with a supporting tour of the European festival circuit also in the works.

No other details have been released, but check out Rundgren’s 2012 remix of Lindstrøm’s “Quiet Place To Live” to see what can happen when these guys get together.
