In the last two years, M83’s Anthony Gonzalez wrote new music for Tom Cruise’s SciFi thriller Oblivion and scored the film for his brother’s feature-length debutYou And The Night. Today, he continues his plunge into the cinema, as he’s contributed a new song to the all-star soundtrack for Divergent.
Taking a cue from the film’s futuristic setting, “I Need You” is a vast and otherworldly electronic soundscape. Outfitted with sweeping, cinematic movements at every turn — and yes, even a badass soft-rock sax solo during the bridge — its triumphant spirit will have you feeling like the universe’s hero in no time. Due out March 11th, the soundtrack also boasts contributions from Kendrick Lamar and Tame Impala, ASAP Rocky, Chance the Rapper, Skrillex, and Ellie Goulding, among others.
