On Friday night, Howard Stern celebrated his 60th birthday with a star-studded party at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, which was also broadcast live on Stern’s SiriusXM radio station. In addition to appearances from David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, Robert Downey Jr., New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Lena Dunham, and Louis C.K., the evening featured a number of musical guests.
Dave Grohl sang acoustic versions of “Everlong” and “My Hero” and later played drums on “Walk This Way” alongside Steven Tyler and Slash. Grohl also sat down for a brief interview where he spoke about songwriting and his film Sound City. Other performers included The Black Keys, who tore through “Lonely Boy”, John Mayer covered Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone”, and Jon Bon Sovi sang “Wanted Dead or Alive”.
