Unless you’re Josh Terry, NBC’s Parenthood probably isn’t on your DVR. But here’s one reason to start watching: the show exists in the same universe as the network’s now-defunct Friday Night Lights series. Well, that is if we’re to take this new 18-minute webisode to heart.
Titled “Friday Night at The Luncheonette”, the story finds Amber (Mae Whitman) and her cousin Max (Max Burkholder) “housesitting” the family’s recording studio. To their surprise, there’s a knock at the door, which happens to be Landry Clarke (Jesse Plemons). He’s brought along his seminal Christian speed metal band, Crucifictorious, for a session. Even Tim Riggins’ older brother Billy (Derek Phillips) stops on by.
Look, if you’re an avid FNL fan, then you know the last we saw Mr. Clarke he was outside Matt Saracen’s house tossing around the football. So, it’s nice to see his face again, especially since Plemons’ role in the final season of Breaking Bad continues to haunt us. Christ.
So grab some BBQ, a Lone Star, and watch with clear eyes below.
