The rumored collaboration between Cloud Nothings’ Dylan Baldi and Wavves’ Nathan Williams is a officially a go. In a new interview with Exclaim, Baldi revealed that he’s spent the last 10 days in Los Angeles, writing and recording with Williams.
Baldi said the pair is “almost done”, adding that they’ve recorded “eight good ones”. He described the sound as “more between” their two bands, “and also not the things either of us do. It’s between and [there’s] also another element that wasn’t present in either of our music before.”
Asked about a potential release, Baldi responded, “I think they’ll be out there somewhere. We have to do something with them. Working with him has been super easy. Everything we do is like — I’ll play something and he’ll be like, ‘That’s cool,’ and then he’ll play something and I’ll be like, ‘That’s cool, too.’ There’s never any kind of butting heads. It’s easy.”
Update: Baldi has shared a brief in-studio video via Instagram.
In the meantime, Baldi will release a new album with Cloud Nothings, Here and Nowhere Else, on April 1st. Williams just released a new mixtape from his beat-making side-project Sweet Valley.
