In recent weeks, The StrokesJulian Casablancas has teased the release of his sophomore solo album, playing a series of shows and releasing an eight-minute video. But in a new interview with Chile’s La Tercera (via The Strokes News), Casablancas explained that it’ll be some time before the album finally surfaces.

While he initially hoped to have it out earlier in the year, he’s now eyeing a September release. “There are 45 different things that I’d like to do,” he explained. Casablancas said the album’s sound ranges from Sébastien Tellier to Black Flag to a song of the Congo, adding, “I do not like hearing the same genre for three songs in a row.”

As for The Strokes, Casablancas said, “We’re trying to carry on as friends, taking it easy, recording a couple of songs, and do a couple of shows.” Currently, the band’s only upcoming date is at NYC’s Governors Ball Music Festival in June.
