ASAP Rocky has a new instrumental mixtape on the way called Beauty N the Beast: Slowed Down Sessions Chapter 1. Today, he’s shared the first two tracks from the project.
“Riot Rave”, a collaboration with “Harlem Shake” producer Baauer, is a brooding piece laced with gun shots and other violent soundscapes. It comes accompanied by a music video which sees the ASAP Mob wrecking havoc on New York City’s five boroughs.
Meanwhile, “Unicorn” is a slowed down production that almost comes across as ambient. Imagine, if you will, that Sigur Rós made hip-hop music. That’s “Unicorn”. Update: As Pitchfork points out, it appears to be Tame Impala’s track “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” slowed down.
