Listen: Trent Reznor and Josh Homme’s joint radio interview for triple j

Tomorrow night, Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age kick off their joint tour of Australia and New Zealand. In anticipation, the two bands’ frontmen, Trent Reznor and Josh Homme, appeared together on triple j radio on Wednesday. They discussed the inspiration for the tour and how they’ll be flipping a coin to determine who will headline each night. They didn’t shoot down the possibility of on-stage collaborations, but “the initial plan is for everyone to do their thing,” Homme explained. “So much of the time it sounds lovely to smash it all together. Let’s just start by everyone kicking their ass and doing their thing.”

Other topics included Reznor’s role at Beat Music, how Arctic Monkeys’ frontman Alex Turner was responsible for the …Like Clockwork song titled “Kalopsia”, and their desire to see more co-headlining tours. They also spent a great deal of time expressing their mutal admiration for one another. In all, the interview spanned 20 minutes and provided a rare chance to hear two of rock music’s greatest figures in conversation. Listen to the full interview here.
