Second weekend of Sasquatch! Music Festival canceled

In a move that would have put them in a league alongside Coachella and Austin City Limits, the Sasquatch! Music Festival had announced plans to expand to two weekends in 2014. However, festival organizers have now canceled its second weekend, which was set to take place over the Fourth of July holiday (via Oregon Live).

In a statement, Live Nation Seattle President Jeff Trisler wrote, “the second weekend was not embraced. We felt it was better to cancel the new event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the Fourth of July weekend. Going forward, Sasquatch! Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekend the fans want: Memorial Day Weekend only.”

While the Memorial Day lineup boasts Outkast alongside The National and Queens of the Stone Age, the Fourth of July festival was to be headlined by Soundgarden, Kraftwerk, and New Order. Presumably, these older, more niche acts had an impact on the festival’s overall ticket sales.

Refunds for the Fourth of July festival are available at the point of purchase. Meanwhile, tickets remain available for the Memorial Day festival.
