Listen: Flyte’s hypnotic new song “Where Nobody Knows Your Name”

Last September, rising London four-piece Flyte self-released their Live EP, a Talking Heads-inspired collection anchored by the life-affirming song, “Over and Out”. Since then, the band have toured alongside Bombay Bicycle Club and signed with UK-based label paradYse, where they’ll drop their proper debut single, “We are the Rain” b/w “Where Nobody Knows Your Name”, next month.

While Flyte continued to flirt with New Wave on “We are the Rain”, its B-side “Where Nobody Knows Your Name” is a decidedly more straightforward indie-pop cut. Blissfully laced with glimmering piano and coaxing harmonies, it’s curiously soothing and calls to mind Grizzly Bear’s (and to a larger extent, The Beatles’) more lulling moments.

“We wanted the song to resemble a city commute,” says the band, “the hypnotic trance that one might fall into after travelling the same route year after year.”
