In addition to two new Smashing Pumpkins albums, Billy Corgan has been hard at work on an experimental album called AEGEA. Recordings appearing on the double LP date back to 2007, but they’re only now available for purchase.
Beginning today, the first two pressings of AEGEA, limited to 250 copies each, are available through MadameZuZus.com. Each copy is hand collated, numbered, and signed by Corgan, with the first 50 records coming pressed on colored vinyl. That’s the album artwork up above.
“As a work, AEGEA is experimental in nature, and comes across as more a soundtrack to some lost foreign film than the kind of music I’m usually associated with,” Corgan said of the album. “Listening back I quite like how AEGEA goes along, as it has qualities that are both meditative and alien; but not alienating.”
Below, you can preview a three-minute clip of music from AEGEA.
