Less than 10 months after the release of her sophomore album, One Breath, British singer-songwriter Anna Calvi returns with a new covers EP called Strange Weather. The five-track collection arrives on July 15th via Domino and was produced by Thomas Bartlett (The National, Glen Hansard). Earlier this month we heard her emotive take on FKA Twigs’ “Papi Pacify”; now she’s revealed the title track, which also features guest vocals from David Byrne.

Much like Keren Ann’s original version, Calvi and Byrne’s cover channels a certain beautiful gloominess, as both their voices, and the accompanying morose piano, seem to lurk and find a home in the darkest of shadows. Below, check out its official music video directed by Alan Del Rio Ortiz.

In a press release, Byrne commented on their collaboration:

I’m a big fan of Anna’s two records… and I caught her tour after her first record at Bowery Ballroom here in NY. “Epic” I think is the word that is often used. So when Thomas Bartlett said he was going to be in the studio producing an EP of Anna doing covers I immediately agreed to join in. I was invited to suggest songs and I loved the last Keren Ann record and I thought “Strange Weather” had a haunting quality that might suit Anna…. so we did that, and Anna then suggested I join in on the Connan Mockasin track she’d done too.

Strange Weather Tracklist:
01. Papi Pacify (FKA twigs cover)
02. I’m the Man, That Will Find You (feat. David Byrne) (Connan Mockasin cover)
03. Ghost Rider (Suicide cover)
04. Strange Weather (feat. David Byrne) (Keren Ann cover)
05. Lady Grinning Soul (David Bowie cover)
