Copenhagen punks Lower are gearing up to release their Matador Records debut, Seek Warmer Climes, due out on June 17th. The 10-track LP is said to “channel the romance and drama of great singer-songwriters, from late-period Scott Walker to Bryan Ferry”, resulting in a “hugely ambitious and affecting rock album that enters deeply personal and unusual sonic and topical spaces.”
Following album cuts “Lost Weight, Perfect Skin” and “Another Life” comes a new one called “Bastard Tactics”. Taking a cue from its title, the track’s blunt and badass, knotted with scuzzy, cutting riffs and frontman Adrian Toubro’s disquieting bark. Watch its accompanying music video below (via Stereogum).
The band explained “Bastard Tactics”, saying: “The song is concerned with the pursuit of company in night life, and the realization that the way we have come to praise this is not always in vogue with what it really does to people. Losing your true self and awkwardly resorting to bastard tactics to bring in game, is a universal feeling. Human music, Copenhagen 2014.”
