Things may once again be all sunshine and puppies for the Wu-Tang Clan, but the group’s members are still exploring their various solo project. Raekwon is prepping the release of his F.I.L.A. album for later this year, and now Ghostface Killah has announced a 10-inch single with Toronto jazz outfit BadBadNotGood. Entitled “Six Degrees”, the single’s A-side also features Danny Brown.
It’s hard to tell what’s more bewildering: 1) Ghostface and Brown spitting over the minimalist pitter-patter of drums and haunted house guitar; or 2) the interplay between Ghostface’s vicious flow (which makes references to Mary Poppins sound hard) and Brown’s more manic, somewhat possessed lyrical approach. Either way, it’s an entertaining synthesis of rap’s menacing qualities and more experimental sonics.

“Six Degrees” comes backed by the BadBadNotGood instrumental “Tone’s Rap”. It’s due out June 24th via Lex Records.
