Earlier today, composer/producer Nicolass Jaar promised that if Chile beat Brazil in the latest round of the World Cup, he’d share a brand new song. Though Brazil won the match thanks to some last-minute penalties, Jaar remains a good sport, revealing his edit of Helen Hollins Singers’ 1980s gospel ballad “Consolation”. Had Chile actually won, would he have instead unveiled a remix of Ensiferum’s “Victory Song”?
While the track’s title seems particularly apt given the circumstances, it’s worth noting that it’s actually a couple of years old. Regardless, the mix of doubly dense percussion, uplifting harmonies, and heavenly pianos are the perfect pick-me-up for any occasion. On the plus side, I think the only music that Brazil will hear during their victory celebration is the kind that involves group chanting and vuvuzelas.

The one thing better than a new Jaar song? The track’s accompanying art work. Hey, there’s always 2018, right?
