With Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, and Divine Fits on his résumé, Canadian rocker Dan Boeckner is used to lending his talents to multiple projects at any given time. Now, Boeckner has added yet another musical outlet to his repertoire, a new band called Operators. Formed with Divine Fits drummer Sam Brown and Devojka, the trio is prepping their debut album for release later this year. In the meantime, the trio’s shared their debut single, entitled “True”.
Here, Boeckner emphatically swoons about “one true love” over an ’80s-indebted backdrop of shimmering synths and booming bass. Infectious and danceable, “True” is New Wave for 2014.
