Offstage at this weekend’s Essence Festival, Prince found himself embroiled in a rare beef with R&B singer Lil Mo after his team reportedly prevented her from using the bathroom. (Prince still got the last laugh, though.) Onstage, however, everything was business as usual, as he delivered a ferocious 24-song headlining headlining set. “You know how many hits I got?” he reportedly asked the audience after performing 14 hit songs in a row.
What’s more, Prince made a surprise appearance during Nile Rodgers’ set, joining the Chic leader on guitar for a cover of David Bowie’s 1983 single “Let’s Dance”, a song which Rodgers co-produced. Watch fan-shot footage below.
Following the performance, Rodgers brought his excitement to Twitter:
How Proud Am I at This Moment? Playing "Let's Dance" w Prince is so symbolic. That album w Bowie changed my life… http://t.co/iSrKt9PgRh
