Mere days after the song’s debut, Seattle songwriter Mike Hadreas, aka Perfume Genius, has shared the video for “Queen”, the lead single to his upcoming third studio album Too Bright. Directed by Cody Critcheloe, the clip features Hadreas cast as a “street hustler” spending one particularly bizarre evening roaming around a city.

What follows is a string of increasingly surrealist moments, including the destruction of office supplies, a one-legged Elvis impersonator, Hadreas cat-walking during a board meeting, and a squad of cheerleaders shaking their pom-poms at a suicide attempt. I’m not sure how these specific visuals translate the song’s goal of “deconstructing gay panic with relish,” but they definitely pick up on the LP’s currents of aggression and confrontation. Plus, I really want shrimp now.

    Watch it below:

Too Bright is due out September 23rd via Matador Records. In support, Hadreas will be on tour this fall, including appearances at the End of the Road and Le Guess Who? festivals. Consult his full schedule here
