Emile Haynie might not be a name you’re familiar with, but chances are you’ve heard the Grammy-winning artist hundreds of times without even knowing it.
Over the last few years, he’s collaborated with big-name acts, co-producing Kanye West’s “Runaway”, Bruno Mars’ “Gorilla”, much of Eminem’s Recovery album, and Lana Del Rey’s breakthrough LP, Born To Die. He most recently worked on FKA twigs’ excellent full-length debut, LP1.
Much like Boots, the behind-the-scenes Beyoncé producer who has gone on to release his own solo material, Haynie steps into the spotlight this week with a new song called “A Kiss Goodbye”. A minimalist yet poignant, piano-led number, it also features an all-star cast of contributors in Sampha, Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes, and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

It’s unclear when “A Kiss Goodbye” will be officially released, or in what form, but according to MissInfo, something definitely is in the works: “Is it part of a larger compilation? Well, I’ve heard more than I can speak on yet … but the future looks quite bright for those who love music about the darkest moments.”
