This evening, James Blake took to the BBC Radio 1 airwaves for his weekly Thursday night residency. As he’s done several times in the past few months, the super crooner used to opportunity to debut a brand new song.
According to Blake, the song is called “200 Press” because “only 200 are going to be pressed up.” Silly title aside, the track is by far one of Blake’s more menacing pieces, built of robot-meets-demon vocals, clangy bits of percussion, busted Casio tones, and a medley of random studio junk. Blake has said his next LP would take his sound “downwards,” and I’d say to the pits of House music hell is about as low as you can go.
Listen to Blake’s full broadcast on BBC Radio 1’s website; the new song starts at the 31:00 mark.
“200 Press” will be released through Ninja Tune.
