Billboard has released its list of the 25 most popular clubs in the United States, based on total attendance between May 1st, 2013 – April 30th, 2014. Coming in at No. 1? Of all places, the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida, which drew nearly 350,000 attendees in the last year. House of Blues’ Boston location follows close behind with a total attendance of 323,000, and Washington, DC’s iconic 9:30 Club takes third place after drawing 269,000. Interestingly enough, Billboard also released a list of the top 5 must-play clubs for up-and-coming bands, and only one of the top-grossing venues (9:30 Club) made the cut. The other four — New York’s Bowery Ballroom, New York’s Mercury Lounge, Chicago’s Metro, and Los Angeles’ Troubadour — all are much smaller venues in comparison.
