If there were any doubts that Danny Brown was hip-hop’s version of Andrew WK, just listen to Old highlight “Smokin & Drinkin”. With lyrics like “Big big blunts the size of pinkies/ Pour one out, we still be leaning,” it’s quickly apparent that partying is something Brown is really, really good at. Now, the track’s accompanying video gives us a visual glimpse into what exactly constitutes as a “normal fun time” for the Detroit MC. Spoiler: It’s anything but normal.
Directed by Alan Del Rio Ortiz, who told EW about the clip, “The way I’ve been explaining it to people, is like a house party, but in a dream. So there’s a lot of strange lighting and strange camera movements going on.” Brown explains the concept further, “on the weekends, you probably got that one house that you hang out at and you go on a Saturday night and you all smoke, you all drink, you all play cards.
