Wisconsin folk outfit Field Report will release their sophomore, Marigolden, on October 7th via Partisan Records. So far, we’ve heard the rustic singles “Wings” and “Home (Leave The Leave On)”. Now, they’ve shared “Decision Day”.

The track opens the album with an acoustic guitar riff that evokes a homey and earthy nostalgia. Speaking with CMT Edge, frontman Chris Porterfield vaguely explained the track’s story saying, “The narrator has been stuck, mired in some situation. And the more she fights it based on instinct, the worse it gets. She’s chewing her limbs off. But she woke up one day and found a secret to navigate all of this, and it’s submission.” With that relatively mysterious description, Porterfield lets the song do the real talking. It’s a riveting, melancholic, rootsy, and evocative ballad. Listen in below.
