George Harrison memorialized in tribute concert, feat. Brian Wilson, The Strokes, and “Weird Al” Yankovic — watch

September has been a month filled with moments honoring Beatles great George Harrison. First came Capitol Records’ release of George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-1975, a box set collecting Harrison’s first six solo albums alongside unreleased live recordings and demos. Then, Conan O’Brien hosted a week-long series of performances which saw artists like Beck, Paul Simon, Harrison’s son Dhani with Big Black Delta, and Norah Jones covering Harrison’s classic material.

Last night at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre, Harrison was again memorialized, this time with an all-star tribute concert featuring The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd, Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Brian Wilson, “Weird” Al Yankovic, and The Killers’ Brandon Flowers and Mark Stoermer, as well as members of Weezer and The Strokes and more all in attendance.

Below, covers of “My Sweet Lord” by Brian Wilson and Beach Boys bandmate Al Jardine; “What Is Life” by “Weird Al” Yankovic; “Old Brown Shoe” by Conan O’Brien; “Got My Mind Set On You” by The Killers’ Brandon Flowers; “Art of Dying” by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, “I’d Have You Anytime” and “Something” by Norah Jones and Karen Elson; “Taxman” by Cold War Kids; “Here Comes The Sun” by Perry Farrell with his wife Etty, Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips, Jones, Elson, and Dhani Harrison; and just about everyone who was there doing Traveling Wilburys’ “Handle With Care”.
