Listen: Seinabo Sey’s intoxicating new song “Pistols At Dawn”

Born in Gambia, but now based in Sweden, rising singer Seinabo Sey has been steadily turning heads with her inventive take on “soul pop” and her collaborations with producer Magnus Lidehäll (Sky Ferreira, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue). Following her 2013 breakout single “Younger” (which has since enjoyed Billboard placement thanks to Kygo’s EDM remix), and May’s synth-driven “Hard Time”, Sey returns with a brooding new number entitled “Pistols At Dawn”.

“Stand down or showdown, baby/ Let’s get this done,” she sings coolly over harrowing piano chords and thunderous beats. Even while vocally restrained, Sey’s bluesy rasp is an eerily intoxicating and commanding force.
