R.I.P. Nicky Da B, New Orleans bounce artist, dead at 24

    Nicky Da B, prominent artist of the New Orleans bounce music scene, has passed away at the age of 24. The cause of death is currently unknown, though the report of his passing has been confirmed in statement by his management (via Wondering Sound):

    It is with heaviness in our hearts today that we confirm the passing of Nicky Da B. Nicky was a beautiful soul and we will always be grateful for his magnetic personality and loving spirit. We were inspired by his talent as much as his tireless optimism, compassion and humility. Our condolences go out to his family at this time.”

    Fellow New Orleans artist Big Freedia first broke news of Nicky’s death on Twitter:

    Perhaps best known for his 2012 collaboration with Diplo, “Express Yourself”, Nicky Da B was at the forefront of the burgeoning bounce scene. His hit songs include “Hot Potato Style”, “Go Loko”, and “I Be Strokin’ / F*ck Like You Dance”.

    Diplo expressed his sadness at the loss through a series of tweets, revealing that he was working with Nicky on a new release.
