The Who’s Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend have recruited two big-name frontmen for their annual Teenage Cancer Trust benefit concert. Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and Oasis’ Liam Gallagher will both perform at the November 11th event at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Vedder and Gallagher will sing classic Who songs accompanied by Daltrey and Townshend’s current backing band of Simon Townshend, Zak Starkey, Pino Palladino, Billy Nicholls, Frank Simes, Loren Gold, and John Corey. Other guest performers include Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield, Geddy Lee from Rush, The Strypes, and Brody Dalle. Presumably, Daltrey and Townshend themselves will also hit the stage at some point
Tickets to the concert go on sale Friday, October 31st, and all proceeds will benefit young people battling charity.
Following the Teenage Cancer Trust, The Who will embark on their 50th anniversary world tour, which the band has described as “the beginning of the long goodbye.”
