Foo Fighters premiere new single “Something From Nothing” — listen

Foo Fighters have premiered the first single from their new album, Sonic Highways“Something From Nothing”, recorded in Chicago with producer Steve Albini, is a ferocious, at times even hypnotic, rocker with hints of funk, psychedelia, and Dave Grohl’s signature monster growl. “I’m something from nothing! You are my fuse!” he barks, before launching into an ear-shattering outro lined with scorching guitar riffs. Listen below.

The song comes just one day before the band’s TV series documenting the making of Sonic Highways hits HBO. It also happens to be right in the middle of their week-long Late Show residency, during which they’ve already shared the stage with Heart, Zac Brown, and Tony Joe White. They’ll remain guests on the program through Friday, the same day they’ll be at Chicago’s CubbyBear for a viewing party for the HBO show and a performance. Yeah, it’s been a busy week for Grohl and the gang.

Sonic Highways arrives officially on November 10th via Rockwell Recordings. The band recorded the LP at various studio albums across the country (a process which is documented in the aforementioned HBO series). The album features a number of guest contributors, including Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, The Eagles’ Joe Walsh, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, and Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
