Over the last few months, Vancouver-based piano balladeer Tobias Jesso Jr. has quietly built buzz around sweet and resonant songs like “Without You” and “True Love”. Now, the enigmatic singer-songwriter will attempt to deliver on the hype with the release of his debut album, out in the Spring of 2015.

In anticipation, Jesso has unveiled the album’s first single, “Hollywood”. Like much of his material so far, it’s a wonderfully simple song built solely around piano and Jesso’s heartfelt vocals. Lyrically, the narrative is timeless, a sad story of failing to make it in the big city. “But I don’t know if I can make it/ I don’t know if I could/ Think I’m gonna try in Hollywood,” he croons. Listen in below.

The as-yet-untitled LP will feature production from Girls’ Chet “JR” White, The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney, and Ariel Rechtshaid (Vampire Weekend, Haim, Sky Ferreira).
