By the looks of it, 2014 will come and go with no new album from Kendrick Lamar. The Compton MC did, however, give us one of the year’s best songs with “i”. And today, he pops in a production from Reebok dubbed “I am” wherein he raps a new three-minute verse a capella.

Directed by Anthony Mandler and filmed in Compton, “the video celebrates the limitless potential of youth and is narrated by Kendrick through a powerful verse titled ‘Kendrick Lamar – I am’ — his own personal ode to Compton.”

Update: Part of this verse is from “I Am (Interlude)”, which appeared on 2009’s Kendrick Lamar EP.

The video marks the beginning of a new partnership between Reebok and Lamar, which will see him design a collection of shoes and streetwear to be released in Fall/Winter 2015. Additionally, Reebok will release a collection of its Ventilator shoe inspired by Kendrick’s “life, style, and personality.”
