CoSigned Danish pop singer Karen Marie Ørsted, aka MØ, has had nothing short of a blockbuster 2014. Between the release of No Mythologies To Follow (a stunning debut we ranked as the 33rd best album of 2014) and show-stopping festival sets at Treasure Island and Austin City Limits, the last 12 months have served to propel her from Scandinavian export to a global pop star on the rise. Today, Ørsted caps off her hot streak with a brand new song called “New Year’s Eve”.
A mellow yet poignant toast to the holiday, the track finds Ørsted pensively reflecting on the problems she hopes to leave behind (or at least temporarily forget) when the ball finally drops and the clock strikes midnight. “As a thanks to all of you who’ve been supporting me in 2014, here’s a new song,” she wrote in an accompanying Facebook post.
