Chicago’s Royale bill its debut, …As Long As The Money Lasted, as “a sci-fi yacht metal record.” While that label sounds ridiculous, the four-piece proved it could seamlessly blend the breezy “dad rock” vibes of Steely Dan with thrashing guitar riffs on singles like “Out of Season” and “Close to the Vest”.
Today, Royale share two more previews of …As Long As The Money Lasted ahead of its digital release on New Year’s Day. The first song is a rebooted version of 2013 fan favorite “Robots With Guns”. Here, the composition is slightly different and recording quality is amped, highlighting new facets of the old tune. The other single is a completely new song called “Robots II”, which features a two-guitar assault, warped vocals, and a booming rhythm section. Listen in below.
On Friday, January 9th, Royale will play a record release show at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall. Tickets are limited and available at RoyaleReleaseShow.com.
