Foo Fighters threw Dave Grohl a surprise birthday concert, and every legendary rocker turned out

Foo Fighters Dave Grohl

David Grohl has set a new gold standard for birthday parties. Foo Fighters celebrated their frontman’s 46th birthday with a “surprise” benefit concert in Los Angeles last night, and the guest list featured some of rock music’s most prominent figures.

Over the course of their 31-song performance, Foo Fighters were joined by KISS’s Paul Stanley for “Detroit Rock City” and “Do you Love Me”; Slash and Tenacious D for Queen’s “Tie Your Mother Down” and Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song”; Alice Cooper for “School’s Out” and “I’m Eighteen”; Nick Oliveri for Roky Erickson’s “Two Headed Dog”; Zakk Wylde for Black Sabbath’s “N.I.B.” and “Fairies Wear Boots”; Perry Farrell for Jane’s Addiction’s “Mountain Song” and The Rolling Stones’ “Miss You”; David Lee Roth for Van Halen’s “Panama” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love”; and Lemmy Kilmister for Chuck Berry’s “Let It Rock”.
