Late last year, news broke that actor/creator Paul Reubens and producer Judd Apatow would be bringing the iconic Pee-wee Herman character to Netflix for a new movie. Now, the streaming service has confirmed the film and revealed the title: Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. (Might we suggest a My Morning Jacket soundtrack?)
A press release announcing the film offers this plot synopsis: “In Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, a fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger inspires Pee-wee Herman to take his first-ever holiday in this epic story of friendship and destiny.”
Reubens wrote the script with Paul Rust (Comedy Bang! Bang!, Arrested Development, co-creator/star of the upcoming Apatow-produced Netflix show Love). Wonder Showzen co-creator, writer, director, and star John Lee (also Broad City, Inside Amy Schumer) will make his feature film directorial debut with the project.
According to Peewee.com, shooting is set to start in just three weeks. Below, find the official title design.
