Of course the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary after party was insane: Many of the comedians and musicians who participated in last night’s three-and-a-half hour special capped off the evening at the Plaza Hotel. That included Jimmy Fallon, who played bandleader as a cavalcade of A-listers hit the stage to sing along to favorite songs.
To start, Taylor Swift and Dan Akroyd joined Paul McCartney to sing The Beatles’ “I Saw Her Standing There” and Swift’s “Shake It Off”. Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande performed alongside Blondie’s Debbie Harry, including a rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”. The one and only Prince also made an appearance, joined by HAIM, Bill Murray, and Fallon for a ferocious performance of “Let’s Go Crazy”.
Update – Tuesday, 8:30 a.m.: Fallon discussed the afterparty during Monday night’s episode of The Tonight Show. He also revealed that Elvis Costello, Michael Bolton, and The B-52s performed over the course of the evening.
