Björk performs Vulnicura live for first time at Carnegie Hall — watch

Icelandic songstress returns to the stage for the first time in 18 months

    Though Björk’s MoMA exhibit has been getting universally panned, her new live show is being smothered in praise. The Icelandic songstress kicked off the tour behind her new album Vulnicura on Saturday with a matinee performance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. The performance has been heralded as “nakedly personal,” “emotional,” and “astounding”

    Backing Björk on stage was a 15-piece string section as well as the album’s producer Arca. Behind them were projected “animated notation” of each track from artist Stephen Malinowski. The images included subtitles of the lyrics accompanied by what was essentially animated sheet music.
