What do you get when you cross the absurdist sensibilities of Tim and Eric and the sugary pop of young Brit sensation Charli XCX? The closest thing to an emoji-themed episode of Black Mirror.
In the Eric Wareheim-directed video for Sucker cut “Famous”, Charli finds herself drawn into a world of selfie-stick wielding hypebeast old people whenever her precious devices lose battery power, cutting her off from the *winky face* *flame emoji* world she loves. It’s a delightfully deranged video that is sure to alienate some of her teen girl fans but earn her some fans with more “out there” senses of humor.
