Howard Theatre was one of the oddest venues that could have hosted this show. The venue is known for its R&B, funk, and hip-hop shows, so a bill of Title Fight, La Dispute, and The Hotelier was out of the norm. Instead of hearing post-punk, post-hardcore, or emo in between sets, the theatre filled with Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Marvin Gaye, and Jr. Walker & the All-Stars. While the Tumblr kid audience — teens with multi-colored hairdos and homemade band t-shirts — may have cringed at the atmosphere, they got what they came for during the sets and, in return, pumped out pure energy all night as they crowd surfed and sang through their tears.
