James Murphy premieres new song “We Used To Dance” — listen

Taken from the upcoming soundtrack for Noah Baumbach's film While We're Young

As we noted last month, James Murphy has been tapped to score Noah Baumbach’s upcoming comedy-drama While We’re Young. Spanning 14 tracks, the soundtrack features an instrumental rendition of David Bowie’s 1976 single “Golden Years” and cuts from Paul McCartney, HAIM, and A Tribe Called Quest, among others. It also contains a handful of new, original compositions from the LCD Soundsystem mastermind himself. One of those, entitled “We Used To Dance”, has been revealed today.

Equal parts meditative and cinematic, the lovely instrumental is held together with softly-purring synths and faded beats. Listen in below.

The soundtrack officially hits shelves on March 24th via Milan Records. The film — which stars Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, and Beastie Boys’ own Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz — opens in theaters on March 27th. Murphy and Baumbach previously teamed up on the 2010 movie Greenberg.
