First, there was the surprise album. Now, it’s the surprise concert. Kendrick Lamar’s groundbreaking, masterful To Pimp A Butterfly doesn’t need much of a media boost at this point — it’s currently the most streamed album on Spotify, ever — still the Top Dawg MC took to the streets of his Los Angeles stomping grounds for a last-minute gig Tuesday night. Instead of a normal stage, though, King Kendrick performed from the flatbed of a moving truck, as fans ran behind and alongside the vehicle just to get a glimpse.
The stunt was reportedly another collaboration with Reebook, following December’s “I am” campaign, and comes just a few days after thousands of local Compton fans lined up for an intimate K-Dot album signing event. Below, check out a few pictures and videos of the surprise concert.
