Omar Souleyman announces new album, premieres “Enssa El Aatab” — listen

Syrian musician teams up with Modeselektor and Four Tet for upcoming full-length

Omar Souleyman new album

On July 28th, Syrian musician Omar Souleyman will release his new album, Bahdeni Nami, through Modeselektor’s own Monkeytown label. The LP follows 2013’s Wenu Wenu and features production from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Modeselektor, and past collaborator Four Tet.

In a press statement, Modeselektor spoke about Souleyman joining their label:

“They say that we, Modeselektor, play at an awful lot of parties. Omar Souleyman has sung at a very, very large number of parties – wedding parties. We reckon that fits! The coolest man on the planet threw the wedding bouquet our way and we had no choice but to catch it. Welcome to the Monkeytown family!”

Our first preview of Bahdeni Nami comes with “Enssa El Aatab”, a vibrant number produced by Modeselektor. Listen in below.

Souleyman has also lined up a short spring tour, which includes festival appearances at Treefort, Big Ears, and Bestival Toronto. Consult his full itinerary below.
