Even after FOX announced the green-lighting of Deadpool, it was hard to believe the long-stalled movie was finally becoming a reality. But as more casting news began to trickle out, and star Ryan Reynolds teased the character’s mask, excitement began to build. Now, Reynolds has revealed the first look at the movie Deadpool’s complete costume, and it’s sure to send Marvel geeks into a tizzy.
Those displeased with the character’s treatment in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine should find satisfaction here; the red-and-black outfit is as close to the source material as you could hope for. It’s even displayed with a bit of Deadpool’s trademark goofiness, as the image mocks Burt Reynolds’ iconic Cosmopolitan photo shoot.
Due out February 12, 2016 from Fox, Deadpool stars Reynolds, Morena Baccarin (Copycat), T.J. Miller (Weasel), and Gina Carano (Angel Dust). Director Tim Miller began shooting the film this month in Vancouver from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
And to think, this all started with some leaked test footage shot years ago. The official suit actually looks pretty similar to the one designed for the test footage, too, as you can see below.
