TV show based on Rivers Cuomo casts its leading man

Detour is the forthcoming Fox series based on the life of Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo. Produced by Cuomo himself, the show has recently cast its leading man in 29-year-old British actor Ben Aldridge. His character will go by the name of Michael Sturges.

Though Aldridge may not exactly be a dead ringer for Mr. Pinkerton, he does have quite a few TV stints under his belt, including a recurring role on CW’s Reign.

Detour’s pilot was penned by Psych creator Steve Franks and directed by Jeremy Garelick (The Wedding Ringer). Peter Gallagher (The O.C.) and Olivia Thirlby (Bored to Death) are also part of the show’s cast. No word yet on an official air date.
