The cast for Roland Emmerich’s long-in-the-works sequel to Independence Day has just gained another familiar face. Emmerich announced via Twitter that Vivica A. Fox would be returning as Jasmine Dubrow, the girlfriend/wife of Will Smith’s character Captain Steven Hiller.
Fox’s son, Dylan, will be played by Jessie Usher. While Smith is not expected to return, those confirmed to appear include Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth; the recently added Charlotte Gainsbourg; and Jeff Goldblum, who will reprise his role as environmentalist David Levinson.
Hemsworth is expected to be playing the son-in-law of the first film’s President James Whitmore. Whitmore was played by Bill Pullman in the original, and though he has yet to be confirmed, his presence is anticipated.
Entitled ID Forever, the sequel is slated for a June 24th, 2016 release. Here’s Emmerich’s tweet announcing Fox’s involvement:
