Next month, Fuck Buttons co-founder Benjamin John Power will release a new album under his Blanck Mass moniker. Dumb Flesh serves as his second solo effort following 2011’s self-titled LP, which was issued through Mogwai’s own Rock Action Records. March gave us the lead single “Dead Format”; today, we receive another preview in “Detritus”.

The track commences with about three minutes of clamorous scraping, as though we’ve just walked into an industrial warehouse where cars are being ripped apart and melded back together again. While jarring, it’s nothing compared to the surge of noise that follows. Power launches into a frenetic fit that’s at times both uplifting and gothic, harsh and beautiful. Clocking in at a solid eight minutes, it’s the kind of album closer that truly feels like one — it’s final and satisfying, yet still will leave you shaken up. Listen in below.
