Future Islands visited the legendary Abbey Road Studios last month laying down some new material, their first since last year’s breakthrough Singles. One of the new tracks, “The Chase”, was made as a special Record Store Day release.
It was recorded straight to vinyl, sent from the Studio Three mixing desks straight to the vinyl lathes. Unfortunately for collectors, the recording is the most exclusive of exclusives. Only one copy of the lacquer was made available, raffled off to UK record stores. Seismic Records came away the winner, and are in turn raffling off the disc for charity.
Of course, this doesn’t mean the track will go unheard. In fact, “The Chase” was broadcast on Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC 6Music show on Saturday morning. You can listen to a replay of the broadcast here (“The Chase” begins at the 2:19:00 mark).
