This weekend, Green Day will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In anticipation, the band played an intimate gig for fans at Cleveland’s House of Blues on Thursday night, marking their first US gig in two years.
The setlist spanned a whopping 35 songs and included several special moments. The evening opened with Billie Joy Armstrong and Mike Dirnt reuniting with original drummer John Kiffmeyer and performing several rarities under their original moniker, Sweet Children. Of note were the first live performances of “Sweet Children”, “I Was There”, “Dry Ice”, and “Green Day” in two decades.
During their proper Green Day set, the band performed “Private Ale” for the first time since 1992, and invited Tim Armstrong on-stage to cover Operation Ivy’s “Knowledge” and “Minority” as well as Rancid’s “Radio”. (Green Day has long cited Operation Ivy as one of their biggest influences.)
Watch a few fan-shot videos below followed by the complete setlist.
