Neil Young new album

Neil Young has announced details of his new album, which was recorded in collaboration with Promise of the Real, a band featuring Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Michah Nelson. Entitled The Monsanto Years, the album will be released on June 16th through Reprise Records.

The albums is described as “politically/ecologically-charged,” featuring songs inspired by food industry conglomerate Monsanto. As previously reported, Young and Promise of the Real debuted several album tracks — including “Rock Starbucks”, “Monsanto Years”, “Too Big to Fail”, and “Seeds” — during a surprise gig in San Luis Obispo, California last week.

In support of the album, Young and Promise of the Real will embark on a tour this summer, including festival gigs at Summerfest in Milwaukee and Ontario’s WayHome Festival. Band of Horses will open five of these dates.

The Monsanto Years marks Young’s third new studio album in the last two years following the Jack White-produced A Letter Home and Storytone.
