Following a leak earlier this week, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics have released the official trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Check it out below.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 26th, 2016. The film stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.
Those worried about the darker elements of 2013’s Man of Steel should keep on shivering. The atmosphere is bleak in this trailer as our two titular heroes are hidden in the shadows and paired with some not-so-sunny visuals. “False god” is scrawled across a statue of Superman while Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne broods at his suit in a chilly room. By the end, the two are staring eachother down in the rain with Batman wondering if Clark Kent truly bleeds. Needless to say, the film appears to have earned its vs. title.
The trailer was due to premiere next Monday as part of a special IMAX event, but a bootleg appeared online on Thursday. As was the case for the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer last fall, the leak forced the studio to jump the official release date. Still, Snyder promises the IMAX event will still be worth it for fans:
The film is a precursor to the two-part Justice League movie, also directed by Snyder, due out in 2017 and 2019, respectively. As previously reported, Affleck could appear in as many as five movies within the DC Universe.
