A little over 24 hours ago, Jimmy Kimmel Live hosted a most historic music event: the US TV debut of Van Halen with original lead vocalist David Lee Roth front and center. Last night, the iconic rockers returned for round two, capping off their Kimmel residency with electrifying performances of “Eruption” and “You Really Got Me” from Hollywood Boulevard. As Kimmel explained prior to the band’s performance, Roth injured his nose while twirling his mic stand during the concert. He was treated by the show’s medic and returned to the stage to finish the set. Afterward, however, he was taken to an area hospital where he received 14 stitches.
Van Halen’s two-day Kimmel stint comes in support of Tokyo Dome Live in Concert, the band’s first-ever live album featuring Roth, which is out this week. In support, this summer, they will hit the road for their first North American tour in three years.
